Checkered Cottage – Spring 2024

Hello to all,

We start this newsletter with a bit of a heavy heart.  This past week, Susan’s father passed away at age 99.   He lived life to the fullest.  Worked as head of Victor Iron Works into his 90’s and stepped away from driving just a few years ago. Thought for sure Mr. Art Weber would celebrate his 100th, but it was not to be.

We also experienced the loss of Linda’s mother-in-law who, like Susan’s dad, made it well into her 90’s at age 96.  Although Art and Marie lived long full lives, it’s never easy to say goodbye to our parents.

Please  make a note that, to honor these two wonderful parents, we will CLOSE  THE COTTAGE ON SATURDAY APRIL 20th to gather with close family and friends.

With the exception of April 20, we hope you will stop by very soon and see all the fantastic paper and fun home decor and gifts we have in stock.  Brand new Echo Park has arrived  and Photoplay on the way.

The class sample wall in the shop showcases our VERY talented teachers samples.  You can also take a look at these on our new and improved website.  There are beautiful choices for cardmaking, scrapbooking, and decorative painting.  Check out the stunning cards that Jan is showing for the Better Press class (and no, you need not have a Better Press to take this class).

Recreate reminder – we are collecting Father’s Day and Fourth of July items up until June 1.  Mark your calendars – starting July 1 we will start accepting your Halloween, Fall, and Christmas recreate items.  Everyday items are always accepted.

That should about wrap it up for now.  Hoping to see everyone soon.

Happy Spring to all,

Susan, Robyn and Linda
