Parking for Classes at Checkered Cottage
We know there are few things in life worse than trying to find a parking space in Downtown Kirkwood especially when you have a class that will keep you busy for more than the 2 and 3 hour parking limitations on the lot across from the store or alongside PJ’s Tavern. However – there are options. St. Peters Parish in conjunction with downtown Kirkwood do allow parking on their lot free of charge with no parking time constraints. The lot is only closed when the church or school needs the parking for a special event. The next option we have available for those that don’t wish to walk from St. Peters lot or we have inclement weather is a $5 parking pass that can be bought for a one day use. These passes are available at the Downtown Kirkwood Business office located at 130 E. Jefferson next to Kirkwood Library.

Due to manufacturers availability of product, we sometimes have to change paper patterns that are originally shown as a class sample. We apologize for any inconvenience if this does happen to you.

Class Policies
- At the time of sign up a $10 deposit or class paid in full is necessary to hold your spot in class. No exceptions.
- Cancellations up to 1 week in advance are refundable.
- Cancellations made less than 1 week of the class date are non-refundable.
- Extra class kits, for students enrolled, can be purchased for the class fee, at the teacher’s discretion. Preorders are required!!!
- There will be a nominal charge for a make up fee if someone misses class and wants to reschedule with the teacher. The fee is $ 10.00/hr. The fee will be waived if a teacher or weather cancels a class for any reason and needs to be rescheduled.
- Please keep cell phones on vibrate during class time.
- Reminder: Checkered Cottage follows the Kirkwood school closings during bad weather season. We will also try and leave you a phone message regarding weather related canceled classes.
Basic Kit for Paper Crafting:
Paper cutter, scissors, wet glue, tape runner, glue dots, mounting tape, red line or scor tape, ink blending tool when needed, inks when specified by class in supplies as needed, tweezers, bone folder, and craft mat. Any extra supplies needed per project will be listed under the class.
Basic Painting Kit:
#8 and #10 flat shader, #0 and #10/0 liner brush, #4 filbert brush, #6 dry brush, Tombo or Mono eraser, ruler, pencil, sharpie permanent marker, scissors when needed, stylus, and small bottle of hand sanitizer. For Intermediate to Advanced painting classes all of the above plus chalk pencil, blue painters tape, #4 and #12 flat shader, #4 and #8 dry brush, #6 and #8 filbert, and a #1 wash brush. We provide water tubs, paints, paper towels, and paint palette paper for each student.
